Russell manages 995 hectares of arable land on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border, producing oilseed rape, beans, oats, malting barley for Budweiser and wheat for Weetabix, various other mills and a number of seed crops. Russell is a former AHDB monitor farmer (2014–2017) and a Nuffield Scholar from 2014, having researched Success with no-till under any conditions and a former retuning Scholar trustee on the Nuffield board. A keen innovator and adopter of new techniques, Russell has a strong interest in trials – with the farm hosting a range of trials that he helps design from varieties to fungicides and nutrition.
