Jim Chapman
I was brought up on a council dairy farm where my passion for farming began, but unlike my father it was tractors and machinery that interested me rather than cows.
After leaving school I worked for a bailing contractor before starting my own business.
In 2005 I lost my left arm to a PTO shaft which resulted in my ending my contracting business.
Every cloud had a silver lining and mine came in the form of my now wife Anna and her contacts that resulted in me getting the job I'm in now, looking after a 500-acre arable farm near Leamington Spa where we have been reducing tillage and trying to improve our soils over the last 6 years or so.
In 2016 I completed a Nuffield Scholarship where I investigated farm safety and how we might improve the terrible record we have as an industry.
I currently have the honour of being Chair of Trustees for the farm safety foundation Yellow Wellies where we are trying to change attitudes and behaviours around farm safety and mental wellbeing
