Henry is a wheat & barley breeder at KWS-UK with 3 years breeding experience, having completed a BBSRC DTP PIPS funded placement at KWS in 2016 before joining the wheat breeding team full time in 2017, having previously completed a PhD in crop science at the University of Reading. His daily role includes being responsible for selections within the pedigree breeding programme, implementing R and D findings in to the breeding programme, implementation of genomic selection, plot observations and disease scoring, assisting the head breeder where needed in the UK and overseas. Henry's doctorate work investigated the influence of Rht and Ppd alleles on heat stress tolerance in wheat, their interaction with growth stage, performance of these alleles in the field within a Doubled Haploid population and the potential to improve crop model responses to heat stress using this data.
