Soil Capital Carbon - carbon payments are here!

SOIL CAPITAL Stand: 1007

To help you succeed in improving soil health and storing carbon, we provide you with carbon payments, fresh economic insights and access to local expertise. Team up with the regenerative experts who deliver farm profitability.

How does it work?

It is simple. By joining our 5-year programme, Soil Capital Carbon will help you:

  • develop climate-positive farming practices that make sense for your farm, using analytics from mySoilCapital and advice from your local agronomist
  • measure and certify your positive climate impact over time
  • market and sell your carbon gains

How do I sell my carbon?

Every year, we calculate your net carbon gains using a certified methodology to process operational data you provide. We then sell the certificates you generate through an established network of partner companies, both from the food sector and beyond. We already have buyer commitments to buy certificates for several years.

How much can I earn?

While it depends on your practices, it is not uncommon to improve your carbon profile by more than 1 tonne per hectare per year. Our goal is that you earn a minimum of £23 per tonne sold. A 200 ha farm could earn an average of £5,500 per year with reasonable practice change.

How do you measure my carbon impact?

Credibility is key. Soil Capital Carbon has adopted an international, third-party standard: ISO 14064. We use a GHG calculator called the Cool Farm Tool, which is continuously improved by a consortium of leading European universities. It is used by thousands of farmers worldwide and supported by over 100 food companies including AB InBev, Cargill, Danone, Kellogg’s, McCain and Unilever.

What are climate-positive farming practices?

There is no single recipe. Common approaches include optimising your (increasingly organic) inputs, diversifying your crop rotation, integrating cover crops and reducing the intensity of your land preparation.
